Biography

Anda-Louise Bogza studied at the Academy of Music in Bucharest and Prague- piano, harpsichord and singing. Having graduated from the Prague Academy she accepted engagements with the State Opera and the National Theatre in Prague. She appeared in significant roles as Mozart´s Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Verdi´s Aida, Leonora (Il Trovatore), Desdemona (Otello), Abigaille (Nabucco), Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Puccini’s Tosca, Liù and Turandot, Sina (H. Krása: Verlobung im Traum), Janáček´s Jenůfa and Káťa Kabanová. On the stage of the National Theatre Opera she created the roles of Donna Anna, the Princess (Dvořák: Rusalka), Giorgetta (Puccini: Il Tabarro), Elise (Tchaikovsky-The Queen of Spades), Aida, Puccini’s Tosca and Minnie (La Fanciulla del West) - for this creation she received the prestigious Thalie Award. Anda-Louise Bogza sang in the major renowned opera houses and concert halls in Europe and overseas: Musikverein in Vienna (Verdi: Requiem, Haydn: Jahreszeiten), London Royal Albert Hall (Dvořák: The Spectre’s Bride), Festspielhaus Salzburg (Verdi: Requiem,), Suntory Hall Tokyo, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Amphiteater Madrid, Dublin Concert Hall, Taipei, USA. She sang Aida at the Wiener and Berliner Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Leipzig, Tokyo, Tosca at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich,  at the Festival Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Florence (conductor Zubin Mehta), Semperoper Dresden (conductor Fabio Luisi),Opera di Roma, Oper Frankfurt, the New Israeli Opera Tel Aviv (stage director Hugo de Ana), Opéra National de Bordeaux (stage director Nicholas Joel),Grand Théâtre Luxembourg, National ,Opera Bucharest, Bratislava, Leonora (Il Trovatore) at the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Royal Opera Copenhagen, Budapest State Opera,Teatro de la Maestranza Sevilla (conductor Maurizio Arena). She also sang at the Opéra de Marseille (Donna Anna), the Princess in Rusalka at the Opéra National de Paris-Bastille (stage director Robert Carsen) and at the Théâtre de la Monnaie (conductor A. Fischer, stage director S. Herheim). She sang the title role of Rusalka at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (conductor G. Neuhold). At the Arena di Verona she performed Tosca (stage director Hugo de Ana) and Leonora in Verdi´s Il Trovatore (conductor Marco Armiliato, stage director Franco Zeffirelli). She performed at the Teatro Filarmonico Verona (Manon Lescaut; stage director Graham Vick), Volksoper in Vienna (Turandot), Herodes Odeon-Akropolis in Athens (Abigaille), Festival Torre del Lago (Santuzza), Semperoper in Dresden (Rusalka). She recorded for Decca Pavel Haas’ opera Charlatan (Rosina), for Arco Diva Songs, for Arte Nova Classics Il Trovatore (Leonora) and Italian Arias Portrait.
