Vladimír Doležal

Vladimír Doležal studied at the Prague Conservatory with Miluše Dvořáková, and later honed his technique with Karel Berman. While still a student, he was a member of the Prague Madrigalists, with whom he performed throughout Europe and America (festivals in Paris, Madrid, Belgrade, Lucerne, Salzburg, Milan, Berlin, etc.). In 1983 he completed voice master classes in Siena, in 1988 he attended the Bach Academy in Stuttgart. In 1988, he joined the opera company of the National Theatre in Prague, where he went on to perform numerous roles of the Czech and international repertoire, including Smetana’s Warneman (The Brandenburgers in Bohemia), Vašek and Principal (The Bartered Bride), and Vítek (Dalibor); Dvořák’s Prince (Rusalka) and Benda (The Jacobin); Janáček’s Laca (Jenůfa), Váňa Kudrjáš (Katya Kabanova), Composer, Harfoboj and Miroslav Zlatník (The Excursions of Mr. Brouček), Schoolmaster (The Cunning Little Vixen), Albert Gregor (The Makropulos Case) and Janíček (The Diary of One Who Disappeared); Beethoven’s Florestan (Fidelio), Leoncavallo‘s Canio (Pagliacci), Mozart’s Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro); Wagner’s Young Sailor (Tristan und Isolde); Martinů’s Nikolios and Panait (The Greek Passion); Bizet’s Dancairo (Carmen), and others. Vladimír Doležal has also been a prolific concert singer, performing both at home and abroad (Paris, Seville, Bonn, Milan, Brussels, etc.), mainly concentrating on oratorios and chamber music. His extensive discography consists of nearly 40 albums, primarily featuring music by Rejcha, Mozart, Schubert and Martinů. He has cooperated with Václav Neumann, Zdeněk Košler, Jiří Bělohlávek, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Colin Davis, Aldo Ceccato, Helmuth Rilling, Jiří Kout, John Fiore and other world-famous conductors. Vladimír Doležal has also taught at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
