Andrea Chénier returns to the National Theatre in Prague after 119 years

The opera Andrea Chénier by Italian composer Umberto Giordano premieres at the National Theatre in Prague on 5 and 6 May 2016. The work about a poet of the age of the French Revolution with its thrilling music, dramatic and tense emotionality belongs to the masterpieces of the Italian verismo operas. The National Theatre Orchestra will play it under the baton of artistic director of the Opera Petr Kofroň. The director is be Michal Dočekal. The main roles will be alternated by Hector Sandoval / Rafael Alvarez (Andrea Chénier), Svatopluk Sem / Roman Janál (Carlo Gérard) and Anda-Louise Bogza / Petra Šimková-Alvarez (Maddalena from Coigny).
