Exhibition looks at 55 years of Prague's Laterna magika
19/11/2014
For 55 years, Laterna magika has been presenting original and inventive theater that often mixes live performances with film and video projections. Now, a new exhibition of posters looks back at more than a half-century of the theater's spectacular performances.
During its 55-year existence, Laterna magika has presented more than 36 premier performance, some of which are commemorated on the exhibited posters.
The posters are works of art in their own right, and reflect the evolution of artistic sensibilities and span a range of styles from colorful collages to works of abstract art or naive drawings. Only the best posters were selected for this exhibition, some of them made by well-known Czech artists or illustrators, including Zdenek Seydl, Josef Flejšar, Vladimír Fuka, and Petr Sís.
The poster exhibition will be up until the end of the year at Nona Café, located inside the Laterna magika's home in the National Theatre's building known as Nová scéna (New Stage of the Nationa Theatre).
