Dance On: The Fickleness of Inspiration – A Ballet Experience at the New Stage
The Dance On project is an original initiative by the National Theatre that allows the audience a glimpse behind the scenes of ballet creation. This educational program brings together dancers, choreographers, and the general public, offering them the chance to experience how new ballet choreographies are made. Through open classes, choreographic laboratories, and individual training sessions, participants become part of a process that often remains hidden from the audience's view. In the Dance On program, participants will experience a fascinating and inspiring atmosphere.
Don’t miss the upcoming Dance On event featuring the choreography The Fickleness of Inspiration, which will take place on March 26, 2025, at the New Stage. Choreographer Matěj Šust, the first soloist of the Czech National Ballet, will guide the audience through his creative process and demonstrate how to interpret the concept of "fickle inspiration," the foundation of his new choreography. The audience will witness how the choreography comes to life and how individual elements combine to create a complex artistic work. This concept will be expressed not only through movement but also through the atmosphere, supported by music by composer Claude Debussy in a remix by our dancer Theodora Lehu. Additionally, there will be insight into other aspects of the creation process, such as lighting design and costume selection, enriching the overall experience. Finally, the audience will see the finished choreography in costumes and makeup, presented by demi-soloists Alice Petit and Kristina Kornová.
Join us for Dance On and become part of the creation of a new ballet piece that will undoubtedly immerse you in the fascinating world of inspiration, creativity, and movement.
