National Theatre will present complete Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung

18/6/2024

In 2026–2028, Richard Wagner's legendary tetralogy The Ring of the Nibelung will be performed in Prague under the baton of Robert Jindra and directed by Sláva Daubnerová.

From February 2026 to May 2028, the National Theatre will perform all parts of Wagner's tetralogy The Ring of the Nibelung, one of the most demanding works of operatic literature. The National Theatre Opera and the State Opera thus want to build on the Musica non grata project and the legacy of the New German Theatre (today’s State Opera) and its glorious era.

Thus, the operas Das Rheingold (February 2026, National Theatre), Die Walküre (April 2027, State Opera), Siegfried (March 2028, State Opera) and Twilight of the Gods (May 2028, National Theatre) are to be staged in succession. The entire cycle will be directed by Slovak stage director Sláva Daubnerová, and the set will be designed by Boris Kudlička.

The solo roles will be performed mainly by soloists of the National Theatre Opera and the State Opera or singers closely connected with the opera houses, including Adam Plachetka, Štefan Margita and Štěpánka Pučálková.
