Pavol Breslik as a new Prince in Rusalka on 28 August

The world known tenor Pavol Breslik jumps in to take a leading role of Princ of Antonín Dvořák´s opera „Rusalka“ on 28 August instead of Pavel Černoch who is suddenly ill.
Pavol Breslik (Bršlík) debuted at the State Opera Prague on 17 December 2001 at the age of 22, as a little-known Slovak lyric tenor, performing the role of Don Ottavio in a production of Giuseppe Gazzaniga and W. A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni. In December 2003, he portrayed there Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), before deciding to go abroad. From 2003 to 2006, he was a member of the Staatsoper Berlin. Since in the Operwelt poll in 2005 critics elected him the Most Promising Singer of the Year, he has appeared to great acclaim at such renowned opera houses as the Wiener Staatsoper, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, the Opéra de Paris, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Staatsoper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Operhaus Zürich, as well as at the Metropolitan in New York and the Los Angeles Opera. His repertoire includes the parts of Idamante (Idomeneo), Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Roberto (Roberto Devereux), Gennaro (Lucrezia Borgia), Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de perles), Gounod’s Faust, Števa Buryja (Jenůfa), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), etc. Also a sought-after concert artist, Pavol Breslik has sung under Gustavo Dudamel, Emmanuelle Haïm, Kurt Masur, Riccardo Muti and other distinguished conductors, with his repertoire encompassing Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno, Missa solemnis, Christus am Ölberge, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater and Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass. He has recorded widely on CD and DVD. Pavol Breslik has performed at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg, BBC Proms, Salzburger Festspiele, Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and other major music events. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, and at the CNIPAL opera studio in Marseilles. In 2000, he won first prize at the Antonín Dvořák Vocal Competition in Karlovy Vary.
