Sustainable productions
RRR. Reduce, re-use, recycle. The principle of re-using is ever more prevalent in contemporary discussions and encourages the institutions that implement it to act more responsibly. These are exactly the values that The National Theatre not only professes, but increasingly also incorporates into its everyday operation.
We are currently working closely with the Re-Use Federation. The National Theatre has also established a “material bank”, which enables the recycling of individual set design components and their repeated use. The process of creating a digital database has also been an opportunity to “clean up” the storage rooms. Items that were broken or beyond repair have been discarded, while other, as yet uncatalogued items were found and added to the database.
This FURNITURE CATALOGUE is an online database of The National Theatre, where it will be possible to see all of the furniture in the theatre’s possession in one convenient place, but also to view individual pieces of furniture, or even request a loan. The National Theatre has always had a record of the furniture in its possession, however, the catalogue is available from any device, without the need to visit the furniture storage in person, while also being simple and clear. We plan to have more than 6000 items in the catalogue by the end of 2023.
Similar catalogues are also planned for costumes and stage props in the near future.
