Biography
Alice Petit was born in France. She began her dance studies in 2004 at the Conservatoire régional de Paris and later continued at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where she graduated in 2012. During her studies, she joined the Junior Ballet at the conservatoire, performing in The Sleeping Beauty (Rudolf Nurejev) and Evening Songs (Jiří Kylián). She furthered her training with courses at the Nederlands Dans Theater, the English National Ballet, and a workshop/audition with Pina Bausch in 2014. Alice also attended summer intensives at the Royal Ballet School, Juilliard School, and English National Ballet.
After graduating in 2012, Alice joined the State Opera in Prague and later became a member of the Czech National Ballet. From the 2015/2016 season, she has served as a demi-soloist, eventually advancing to soloist. Her classical repertoire includes roles in Swan Lake (choreography by P. Ďumbala and H. Vláčilová), Swan Lake (Kenneth Greve), Giselle (H. Vláčilová), Cinderella (Jean-Christophe Maillot), Don Quixote (J. Slavický), and The Snow Queen (M. Corder). She currently performs in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Youri Vámos), La Bayadère (Javier Torres), and La Fille mal gardée (Frederick Ashton).
Alice’s contemporary repertoire is extensive and includes notable works like Amerikana III / Theme and Variations (George Balanchine), In the Middle Somewhat Elevated (William Forsythe), Stabat Mater (Petr Zuska), Symphony No. 7 in A major (Uwe Scholz), and Decadance (Ohad Naharin). She also showcases her versatility in roles such as Madame de Tourvel in Valmont (L. Vaculík), the Young Witch in The Little Mermaid (Jan Kodet), and in contemporary pieces like Rain (Radu Poklitaru) and Cacti (Alexander Ekman). In Kylián – Bridges of Time, she performs in Jiří Kylián's celebrated choreographies Symphony of Psalms, Bella Figura, and Petite Mort.
Beyond her work with the Czech National Ballet, Alice has collaborated on video art projects with Collegium Marianum Prague (2019–2024) and partnered with artist Daniel Pešta for the Venice Biennale (2022–2024). Her additional skills include piano, singing, and drama, with experience in personal choreographic projects and dance laboratories.
