Barbora Perná

Biography

Since January 2025, soprano Barbora Perná has been a soloist of the National Theatre Opera and State Opera in Prague. Her repertoire in the National Theatre includes roles such as Barbarina and La contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Papagena and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Jano in Jenůfa, Daisy Parker alias José Pasodoble in Ball in Savoy.

Barbora Perná graduated from the Prague Conservatory in the class of Jiřina Marková-Krystlíková. She  continued with Magdaléna Hajóssyová at the Academy of Music in Prague. During her studies, Barbora already appeared as a guest in Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava as Arsinda in Il Cavaliere errante, Barberina in Le nozze di Figaro and Sophie in Werther. In the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň, she created Musetta in La bohème and Terinka in The Jacobin. At the age of sixteen, she attended singing courses in Riva del Garda with Mieta Sighele and Veriano Luchetti. As a soloist of the Children's Opera Prague she performed at EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan, and appeared also in Bayreuth, Vienna and Opéra Bastille in Paris. She is a holder of numerous first places on both domestic and international competitions. In the International Antonín Dvořák Vocal Contest in Karlovy Vary, she received a honourable mention and Jarmila Novotná award in 2006. In 2009, she became the Grand Prix winner at Prague Singer Competition. In 2010, she took part in the international competition Juventus Canti in Vráble, Slovakia, where she was awarded the first prize in the category under 30 and a Special Prize for Interpretation. In the 2010 International Antonín Dvořák Vocal Contest in Karlovy Vary she was awarded the first prize and a number of other acknowledgements: National Theatre Prize, State Opera Prague Prize, Voice Centre Prize, Galerie Miro Prize, František Drs Award, and Foundation Fund for Yourng Artists Prize of Antonín Dvořák and Jarmila Novotná Prize.
