
Christian Elsner
Biography
Christian Elsner, born in Freiburg im Breisgau, studied voice under Martin Gründler, with additional training from Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Neil Semer. Christian Elsner is a prizewinner of various international competitions and currently serves as a Professor of Voice at the Karlsruhe University of Music. A sought-after concert singer on the international stage, Christian Elsner frequently performs in prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, La Scala in Milan, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Elsner has collaborated with renowned conductors including Herbert Blomstedt, Semyon Bychkov, Marek Janowski, Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and Sir Simon Rattle. In addition to concerts, he has performed Lieder recitals with pianists Gerold Huber and Burkhard Kehring in cities such as Frankfurt, Dresden, Cologne, Schwetzingen, Brussels, Paris, and at the Schubertiade Feldkirch. Elsner has also appeared in operatic roles such as Siegmund and Parsifal at notable venues like the Semperoper Dresden, the Vienna State Opera, and the Teatro Real in Madrid. His versatile voice continues to captivate audiences, with performances in renowned locations like the Vienna Musikverein, the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, and in Lisbon. The 2024/25 season promises further highlights, including his role as Mime in Wagner’s Siegfried with the Dresdner Festspielorchester and Concerto Köln under the baton of Kent Nagano.
