Christina Nilsson

Biography

Swedish soprano Christina Nilsson will make her debut at the National Theatre Opera in January 2025 in the title role of Aida. She will debut in the same role at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in March 2025 and has also performed the role at Opera Frankfurt, Royal Opera House in London and Deutsche Oper Berlin. In July and August 2025 she will appear as Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and Freia (Das Rheingold) at the Bayreuther Festspiele. She has performed at the Royal Swedish Opera (Aida, Chrysothemis in Elektra, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos, Tosca), Oper Frankfurt (Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos), Theater Dortmund (Elsa in Lohengrin), Opéra de Lyon (Chrysothemis in Elektra), Bavarian State Opera (Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus), etc. In 2017 Christina Nilsson won first prize at the Renata Tebaldi International Singing Competition and in 2016 she received first prize and the audience prize at the Wilhelm Stenhammar International Singing Competition. She was born in Ystad and graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm.
