Biography
Soprano Dagmar Vaňkátová studied singing at the Prague Conservatory as a student of professors Věra Passerová and Marta Boháčová. She participated in several singing competitions, e.g. International Singing Competition of Antonín Dvořák in Karlovy Vary or in Mozart´s Prague. After graduating from the Prague Conservatory she became a soloist of Chamber Opera Prague (later Opera Mozart) where she performed the main Mozart's roles of Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Despina (Così fan tutte), Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), or also the role of Angel in Mysliveček's oratorio Abramo et Isacco. From 1996 to 2011 she was a soloist of the Prague State Opera Prague where she added to the previously studied roles also Fiorilla (Rossini: Il turco in Italia), Gilda (Verdi: Rigoletto), Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and many others. Since January 2012 she has been a soloist of the Czech National Opera. Dagmar Vaňkátová is very much engaged in concerts, beside the Czech Republic and European countries she performed also in Japan. She is a sought-after interpret of chamber and oratorio music of all styles and periods. She is also involved in contemporary authors' works and collaborated in some recordings of mainly Czech sacred music.
