Emma Ryott’s work in ballet includes: The Little Match Girl, Messa da Requiem, Der Sandmann, Romeo et Juliette and Sonnett (Zurich Ballet), Anna Karenina (Korean National Ballet, Oslo, Moscow and Zurich); Woyzeck (Oslo and Zurich); Leonce & Lena (Charlotte Ballet, Essen, Montreal, Stuttgart and Zurich); Der Sandmann (Stuttgart, Riga); Lulu. Eine Monstretragödie and Das Fräulein von S (Stuttgart Ballet); Poppea//Poppea (Arte); Don Q (Theaterhaus Stuttgart); The Return of Ulysses (Flanders Ballet and the Edinburgh Festival).
Designs for theatre plays include: The Young Chekov; Seagull, Ivanov, Platonov (Chichester Festival Theatre and National Theatre London), The Heart of Robin Hood (the RSC in Bergen, Boston, Uppsala and Toronto – Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Design and Dora nomination for Outstanding Costume Design); Rock ‘n’ Roll (Royal Court, West End and Broadway), Sunset Boulevard (Göteborg Opera).
The opera productions she has worked on include: La bohème(Copenhagen Opera festival), Das Rheingold (Longborough Festival Opera), Marco Polo (Guangzhou), Winterreise (Zurich Opera), The Flying Dutchman (Deutsche Oper), Cinderella (Finnish National Opera), The Great Gatsby and The Damnation of Faust(Dresden), The Damnation of Faust (Deutsche Oper Berlin); Falstaff (Wiesbaden); Orphée et Eurydice (Stuttgart); Berenice(Göteborg); Nine (Malmö); Otello (Salzburg and Teatro dell’Opera Di Roma); Mathis der Maler (Theater an der Wien – Austrian Music Award for Best Production); and Manon Lescaut (ENO). Her TV designs include: 2016 New Year’s Day Concert (Vienna, for ORF). Film designs include: Death of Pentheus, Arhat, Taming the Dragon and Poppea//Poppea.
