Eva Jiřikovská

Biography

Eva Jiřikovská studied graphic design and visual arts education at Masaryk University in Brno, with Jan Vičar. From 2004 to 2016, she was a set and costume designer at the Moravian Slovak Theatre in Uherské Hradiště, where she worked on numerous productions (Alice in Wonderland, Gypsies, Calibos’s Crime, The Marriage, Marvin’s Room, War with the Newts, Medeia, Cybercomics, Mein Faust, Villon F., The Lantern, etc.), and created advertising graphic materials.  She has collaborated with the stage directors D. Gombár, J. A. Pitínský, A. Petrželková, J. Maceček, L. Keprtová, J. Honzírek, B. Rychlík, D. Špinar and M. Františák. She has also designed sets and costumes for drama and opera productions at the National Theatre in Prague (Boris Godunov, Three Sisters, The Miller’s Monkey), the National Theatre in Brno (L’elisir d’amore, The Kiss, The Ideal Husband, Le Bal, Veronica’s Room, The Pharmacist, Pericola), the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava (Maria Stuarda, The Secret), the Na zábradlí Theatre in Prague (Grandmas), the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň (La traviata), the State Theatre in  Košice (Ariadne auf Naxos), the Municipal Theatre in Zlín (Oresteia, Permeation, The Žítková Goddesses, My Fair Lady), the Švanda Theatre in Prague (Merlin, or the Wasteland, Crash by a Creek, The Cement Garden, The Pied Piper), the Municipal Theatre in  Brno (The Žítková Goddesses – Blood is Blood), the Bolek Polívka Theatre (The Fool and Son), HaDivadlo, the Petr Bezruč Theatre (The Miser, The Foam of the Days), the Slovak Chamber Theatre in Martin (Hamlet, Frankenstein), the Arena in Bratislava, etc. She has received several nominations for the Alfréd Radok Prize and the Theatre Critics Prize. Moreover, she has created the sets for performances of Bohuslav Martinů’s cantata Bouquet of Flowers, Carl Orff’s Catulli Carminaand Igor Stravinsky’s Les noces for the International Opera Festival in Litomyšl. She has also worked on a number of Czech Television documentaries, a feature film and other programmes. Her creations have been displayed at exhibitions (Grandmother’s Coffee Set in Uherské Hradiště, an exhibition at the Mozarthaus in Vienna, and other projects). She has regularly worked with the Hradišťan band.
