Biography

Giacomo de Leidi is a highly skilled Italian dancer with a rich career in both classical and contemporary ballet. He began his training at the Teatro alla Scala Ballet School in 2006 under the direction of Anna Maria Prina and Frédéric Olivieri, graduating in May 2011. Giacomo’s professional journey started with a stint as a stagiaire at Ballet Méditerranée in Nice, France, in 2011. He then went on to work with DCE Danzitalia under the direction of L. Cannito in 2012 and 2013. From August 2013 to June 2016, he was part of the Estonian National Ballet, performing in numerous roles and enhancing his versatility. In June 2016, Giacomo joined the Israel Ballet as a Demi-Soloist, where he worked until February 2019. In March 2019, he joined the Czech National Ballet, and in June 2022, he was promoted to Demi-Soloist.

Throughout his career, Giacomo has performed in a wide range of productions. While with the Estonian National Ballet, he danced soloist roles in The Goblin and Cinderella by Marina Kesler, Swan Lake by Tilt Harm, and Symbionts by Wayne McGregor, among others. He also appeared in Onegin by John Cranko and Petrushka by Mai Murdmaa. With the Israel Ballet, he danced in White Swan by Andonis Foniadakis, Piaf by Mauro Astolfi, and Beauty and the Beast by David Nixon, playing the Beast. His time at the Czech National Ballet has seen him perform in major works such as Fly Paper Bird by Marco Goecke, Frank Bridge Variations by Hans Van Manen, La Sylphide by Joan Kobborg, and Leonce and Lena by Christian Spuck. He has also danced in The Second Detail by William Forsythe, Eden Eden by Wayne McGregor, Onegin by John Cranko, and Paco Pepe Pluto by Alejandro Cerrudo, among others.

Giacomo’s diverse repertoire also includes roles in Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty by John Cranko, The Trial by Mauro Bigonzetti, and Nutcracker by Yuri Vamos, showcasing his versatility in both classical and contemporary works. He has portrayed roles such as Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet by John Cranko and Prince Leonce in Leonce and Lena by Christian Spuck.

In 2013, Giacomo was awarded the “Best Dance Talent in Friuli Venezia Giulia” at the World Dance Trophy in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy. His continued dedication to the art of ballet has made him an integral part of the Czech National Ballet, where he continues to impress audiences with his artistry, technical skill, and strong stage presence.
