Jan Petryka

Born in Warsaw, the tenor Jan Petryka studied the cello at the University of Graz and voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, in the classes of Rotraud Hansmann and Marjana Lipovsek. He has performed as a guest at the Teatro Communale di Ferrara as Imeneo (Ferdinando Bertoni: Orfeo ed Euridice), at the Opéra de Lyon as Pietro (Schreker: Die Gezeichneten), appeared at the Wiener Staatsoper in Wilfried Hiller’s singspiel Das Traumfresserchen, at the Theater an der Wien, sang the solo part in Schubert’s Nachthelle (a production of an arrangement of Schubert’s unfinished oratorio Lazarus), and at other renowned venues. As a concert singer, Jan Petryka has co-performed in Handel’s oratorio Belshazzar, conducted by Marcus Creed, at the Lucerne Festival, and regularly worked with the Arnold Schönberg Choir in Vienna, the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg (Ivor Bolton), the Bruckner Orchester Linz (Dennis Russell Davies), Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkowski), and other noteworthy orchestras and ensembles. He has paid keen attention to songs, performing with Julius Drake, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Roger Vignoles, David Lutz, Helmut Deutsch and other distinguished pianists.
