Jiří Podubský
Biography
After school, he joined Divadlo Inspirace, where he worked as a light designer for Lyra Pragensis. During that time he also worked at the Music Academy in Prague HAMU on projects with directors Jiří Heřman, Martin Otava and Radim Vizváry, with whom he was also at the birth of the Mime Fest as a light designer and technical advisor.
Since 2003 he has been working as director of lights at the Estates Theatre, where he has collaborated with many important Czech and foreign directors, including Robert Wilson, A. J. Weissbard, Michal Dočekal, Magdalena Švecová, Alice Nellis and Jan Frič. As a light designer he has worked with Divadlo Na Fidlovačce, Divadlo v Celetné and Moving Station in Pilsen. He also did light design at the Karlín Music Theatre and the New Stage of the National Theatre. In 2013, together with Lenka Havlíková, he was at the founding of the X10 Theatre. For many years he has been the light designer for director Jan Nebeský at the JEDL theatre. As a light designer he prefers to use the colour LEE 115 in his productions.
