Klára Šútovská

Biography

Klára Šútovská studied at the Dance Conservatory in Brno (classical dance), the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (modern dance and pedagogy) and the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (dance and physical theatre, dance education). She has attended many international and Czech workshops, led by such renowned choreographers and dancers as Gilda Rebello, Leon Kjellson, Nicolas Robillard (Sommerakademie Dortmund), Anthony Trahearn, Sara Colomino (Institute of the Arts, Barcelona), Kino McHugh, Macia del Prete, Robbie Ordona (Dance Without Limits), Barbora Kohoutková, Qaša (ProArt), Jan Kodet, Guy Shomroni (International Contemporary Dance Workshop), etc. While still a student, she performed in ballet and opera productions at the National Theatre in Brno (Lidice, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, La Bayadère, Aida, Don Giovanni, I vespri siciliani, Polenblut), and drama productions at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava (e.g. Reconciliation or Adventure at Harvest Time). After completing her education, she moved to Prague, where she worked on numerous music projects at Hybernia, the Karlín Music Theatre, Kalich and Studio Dva. In 2020, she toured Japan, China and Korea with the Vienna Walzer Orchestra. Klára has also occasionally collaborated on commercial projects (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Prague Play Offs, Disneyland Paris, Ferrero Rocher). Of late, she has primarily worked with Prague’s National Theatre Opera Ballet (Armida, The Secret, The Bartered Bride, Ball im Savoy, Madama Butterfly, Aida, Kleider machen Leute, L'elisir d'amore, Mefistofele, Orphée aux enfers). Moreover, she has taught at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, created choreographies for graduation productions at the Divadlo na Orlí theatre, and worked as an instructor at the Tančírna studio in Prague.
