Lucie Holánková
Biography
Graduated from Dance Conservatory in Brno and shortly after her graduation accepted an engagement in the National Theatre in Prague. From 1999 to 2006 she was a soloist in the Prague Chamber Ballet and collaborated with renowned Czech and international choreographers, including J. Kylián, P. Šmok, L. Vaculík, P. Zuska, J. Kodet, J. Ďurovčík, Ch. Bruce, R. North, B. Taylor. In 2009 she was nominated for Thalia Award for her magisterial enactment of Lyrical Duet (choreography by Petr Zuska). In addition to stage performance she also starred in several film adaptations - Anna Balontay (A Lesson in Dance and Love 2002, directed by Viktor Polesný) and Paskalina’s Soul (a film treatment of Bohuslav Martinů’s opera Sister Paskalina 2002, directed by Jaroslav Hovorka). In 2008 Lucie graduated with a Master’s degree in Choreography from the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where her principal professor was Pavel Šmok. In 2007 she won Prizes for the best choreographer and choreography of The 1. International choreographic competition Pilsen 2007. In 2005 she participated in the final round of The International Competition for Choreographers Hannover 2005. She created choreographies in operas La traviata, Madama Butterfly, Bartered Bride, Il trovatore (North Bohemia Theatre of Opera and Ballet Ústí nad Labem) and musicals Inferno, Ballad of Love, The Naked Muse, Mary Poppins, Little Shop of Horrors (Brno City Theater). She works as a asistent of choreography in the National Theater Prague in operas Rusalka, The Miracles of Mary and Parsifal (choreography by Jan Kodet, directed by Jiří Heřman). She is collaborating with Prague Dance Conservatory and since 2007 she has been the artistic director and choreographer of the Prague Chamber Ballet. Photo: Ivan Malý Update: September 2011
