Biography

Lyric coloratura soprano Martha Eason makes her debut at the National Theatre Opera in the 2024/2005 season as Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier). Since autumn 2018, she has been a member of the State Theatre Oldenburg in Saxony, where she has appeared as Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) and Norina (Don Pasquale), among others, and in the 2023/24 season as Svetlana in the musical Chess and Amy Spettigue in the operetta Charley’s Tante, Controller (Jonathan Dove: Flight), Gretel (Humperdinck: Hänsel und Gretel), Helmwige (Die Walküre), Second Niece (Peter Grimes), etc. The American soprano has been based in Europe since 2017. In November 2017 she participated as Papagena in the Komische Oper Berlin production of Die Zauberflöte during its guest appearance at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. She has also been a guest artist at the Theater Münster, Leipzig Opera, and at the Komische Oper Berlin (also Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia). Originally from Abingdon, Virginia, Martha Eason graduated from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in 2015 and was a member of the Young Artist Program at Opera North in New Hampshire that same year.
