Michal Marhold
Biography
Baritone Michal Marhold made his National Theatre Opera debut at the State Opera in E. Schulhoff's Flammen in June 2022.
He studied singing and conducting at the Brno Conservatory and then continued his studies at the vocal department of JAMU in the class of Ivana Mikesková. He is better known to audiences of foreign opera houses – the Bern Opera, where he has been permanently engaged since 2018, Theater na der Wien, Theater Winterthur, the National Opera in Warsaw, the Ring Award Graz and others. In the Czech Republic, he has been a guest at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice, the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen and Silesian Theatre in Opava. He has collaborated with important contemporary directors (Robert Carsen, Mattew Wild, Calixto Bieito, Krystian Lada, Markus Böthe, Maximilian von Mayenburg, Cordula Däuper, Maria Sartova) and conductors (Giovanni Antonini, Kevin John Edusei, Hugo Reyne, Hans Christoph Bünger, Wolfgang Scheidt, Ivo Hentschel, Sebastian Schwab, and others). His repertoire includes Mozart roles (Don Giovanni, Figaro, Guglielmo, Papageno, and Publio) and also Schaunard (G. Puccini: La bohème), Holofernes (A. Vivaldi: Judith Triumphans), Figaro (G. Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia), Juri (L. Evers: The Humanoid), Der Graf (P. Boesmans: Reigen), The King (C. Orff: Die Kluge), Raphael/Adam (J. Haydn: Die Schöpfung), Impresario (D. Cimarosa: L‘impresario in angustie), Il Marchese di Forlimpopoli (B. Martinů: Mirandolina), Silvano (G. Verdi: Un ballo in maschera), The High Priest (Nabucco), etc.
