Miho Ogimoto is a distinguished Japanese dancer and ballet mistress whose career spans across international stages and esteemed ballet companies. She began her formal training at the Sakamoto Ballet Studio in Japan before furthering her studies at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in Canada. Miho achieved early recognition, winning junior categories in prestigious ballet competitions, including the Nagoya Ballet Competition, All Japan Ballet Competition, and Kyushu & Asia Ballet Competition (1995–1997). She was also a finalist at the Paris International Competition in 1998 and 2000.
Miho's professional career began at the New National Theatre in Tokyo (1999–2001). She then secured a soloist contract with Theater Altenburg-Gera in Germany (2001–2004), followed by engagements at Deutsche Oper am Rhein under Youri Vámos (2004–2009) and Aalto Ballet Theater Essen (2009/2010). In the 2010/2011 season, she joined the Prague State Opera Ballet as a soloist, where her exceptional artistry earned her the prestigious Thalia Award in 2012. Since the 2012/2013 season, Miho has been a soloist with the Czech National Ballet, rising to the rank of principal dancer in the 2013/2014 season.
Throughout her illustrious career, Miho has performed leading roles in iconic classical ballets, including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Giselle, La Bayadère, The Nutcracker, La Sylphide, Snow Queen, Cinderella, and Onegin. Her versatility extends to works by renowned choreographers such as Youri Vámos, Uwe Scholz, Nils Christe, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, John Neumeier, Peter Schaufuss, Ohad Naharin, Edward Clug, Eyal Dadon, William Forsythe, George Balanchine, John Cranko, Mauro Bigonzetti, and Michael Corder.
In 2022, Miho transitioned into the role of ballet mistress, sharing her extensive experience and knowledge with the next generation of dancers. With her remarkable technique, expressive artistry, and dedication to the craft, Miho Ogimoto continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of ballet.
