Misato Isogami is a versatile and talented dancer known for her grace, precision, and expressive performances. With a rich background that spans both classical and contemporary ballet, she has captivated audiences with her dynamic stage presence and technical skill. A dedicated artist, Misato continues to evolve as a performer, contributing to the success of the Czech National Ballet as a valued member of its corps de ballet.
Born in Ibaraki, Japan, Misato discovered her passion for dance at the age of four after witnessing a live performance of the romantic ballet Paquita. She began her classical ballet training at Miyaki Ballet Gakuen, where her talent and dedication quickly became evident. At sixteen, she moved to the UK to study at the English National Ballet School in London, from which she later graduated. During her time there, she performed in The Nutcracker at the London Coliseum with English National Ballet and joined the Birmingham Royal Ballet on a national tour of Cinderella.
In 2017, Misato joined the Sibiu Ballet Theatre in Romania, where she danced many soloist roles, including Clara in The Nutcracker and the lead girl in Paquita. She also performed at international ballet galas, such as the International Ballet Gala in Sibiu, where she danced the pas de deux from Flower Festival in Genzano, and at the Gala Revolve Dance 2018 in Bucharest, where she performed the pas de deux from Diana and Acteon. In addition to classical ballet, Misato worked with modern choreographers such as Martin Chaix and Sandra Mavhima, expanding her artistic versatility.
In 2018, she was a semi-finalist at the Varna International Ballet Competition, and the following year, she participated in the 5th Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition, winning a special prize from the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).
Since 2020, Misato has been a member of the Czech National Ballet’s corps de ballet, where she has performed numerous roles. Her most challenging role so far has been Clara in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Youri Vámos). Her other repertoire includes the small swans and pas de six in Swan Lake (John Cranko), the Chinese woman in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Youri Vámos), Effie and two Sylphs in La Sylphide (Johan Kobborg), girlfriends in Coppélia (Ronald Hynd), The Sleeping Beauty (Márcia Haydée), Onegin (John Cranko), Romeo and Juliet (John Cranko), Cinderella (Jean-Christophe Maillot), and A Streetcar Named Desire (John Neumeier).
In addition to her dance career, Misato holds a Bachelor ‘s Degree in Human Sciences, Waseda University.
