Misato Isogami

Biography

Misato Isogami was born in Ibaraki, Japan.

She fell in love with dance at the age of four after watching the live performance of the romantic ballet Paquita. She began classical ballet training at Miyaki Ballet Gakuen.

At the age of 16, she went to the UK to study at the English National Ballet School in London and graduated. While she was there, she danced in Nutcracker in the London Coliseum with the English National Ballet and also went on a national tour with the Birmingham Royal Ballet for Cinderella. 

In 2017 she joined Sibiu Ballet Theatre in Romania. There, she performed many soloist roles such as Clara in Nutcracker or the lead girl in Paquita. She guested at the International Ballet Gala, Sibiu, dancing pas de deux from Flower Festival in Genzano, also at Gala Revolve Dance 2018, Bucharest, dancing pas de deux from Diana and Acteon. She also worked with some modern choreographers such as Martin Chaix and Sandra Mavhima. 

In 2018 she took part in the Varna International Ballet Competition and became a semi-finalist. In 2019 she danced at the 5th Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition and won a special prize of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).

Since 2020, she has been a member of the Czech National Ballet. Her biggest challenge in the company has been playing the role of Clara in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Youri Vàmos). Her other repertoire include small swans and pas de six in Swan Lake (John Cranko), a Chinese woman in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Youri Vàmos), Effie and 2 Sylphs in La Sylphide (Johan Kobborg), girlfriends in Coppelia (Ronald Hynd), The sleeping beauty (Márcia Haydée), Onegin (John Cranko), Romeo and Juliet (John Cranko), Cinderella (Jean-Christophe Maillot), A Streetcar Named Desire (John Neumeier).

She also graduated from Waseda University (School of Human Sciences).
