Biography

Costume designer Nina Reichmann was born in Mannheim, Germany and graduated with a Diploma in Fashion Design. Before graduating, she went to Dakar, Senegal, where she worked as an assistant in an African fashion studio.  While there, she was an exhibitor in the International Fair in 1985. During this time, Ms. Reichmann also assisted at the Franzisco Delgado Haute Couture Studio in Madrid, Spain. In 1988 and 1989 she served Coburg’s Landestheater as a Costumer of Opera, Theater and Ballet, and spent the following two years assisting in the Costume departments of various theatres in Germany.
Since 1992, Ms.Reichmann has been making herself a name as a free-lance costume designer specializing in Opera, Drama and Film. She has been working with directors from all over the globe, including Canada’s Robert Lepage, Belgium’s Guy Joosten and several well-known German and Austrian directors such as Harry Kupfer, Martin Kusej and Stefan Kimmig. Ms. Reichmann’s talents have been employed by companies throughout Western Europe, and she has raised productions at Festival d’Automne Paris, TAT Frankfurt, Komische Oper Berlin, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Theater an der Wien (Wiener Festwochen), De Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen, Züricher Theater Spektakel, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel München, Opernhaus Graz, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Semperoper and Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Volktheater Wien etc.
