Ole Anders Tandberg

Norwegian theatre and opera stage director and playwright Ole Anders Tandberg studied at London’s Guildhall School of Music, to which he added studies of architecture in Oslo, and further schooling at the Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm. From the 1990s he took up his first professional commitments, initially as a drama stage director at the Norwegian Nationaltheatret in Oslo, and the Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern (Royal Dramatic Theatre) in Stockholm. More recently, he has shifted his focus increasingly onto opera. There, his creative portfolio includes productions at Stockholm’s Kungliga Operan (Royal Swedish Opera): Candide (2020); Don Giovanni (2014); Die Zauberflöte (2012); Le nozze di Figaro (2010); Così fan tutte (2007); and The Angel of Fire (2002); at the Deutsche Oper Berlin: Carmen (2018), Wozzeck (2018) and Lady Macbeth of the Mtsentsk District (2015); at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet: Rigoletto (2019); Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District (2014); Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (2012) and L’incoronazione di Poppea (2009); at the Zurich Opera: La bohème (2015); at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki: Lady Macbeth of the Mtsentsk District (2017); and at Göteborgsoperan: Die Zauberflöte (1999). He often also designs sets for his opera productions.
