Pierre Pichler
Biography
Pierre Pichler is an Austrian clarinettist and conductor from Vienna. He has had a firm background in music since an early age. Pierre Pichler played at numerous concerts and on concert tours with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the batons of the world’s most esteemed conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Pierre Boulez. Apart from his solo performances and chamber music, he is regularly invited to orchestral performances as a principal clarinettist with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra. His artistic work as a conductor is very diverse, with the emphasis on Viennese Classicism and Romantic repertoire, the works of Johann Strauss, as well as contemporary music and operas. Pierre Pichler is currently Assistent Conductor of Philippe Jordan, chief conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
