Roberto Zamorano
Biography
Roberto Zamorano is an esteemed ballet master with an extensive international career as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer. He has worked with several leading dance institutions and companies across the globe, making significant contributions to the development of ballet and contemporary dance.
Zamorano held the position of Ballet Master at Teatro alla Scala in Milan from 2016 to 2018, where he was responsible for guiding the company’s dancers and collaborating on various productions. Prior to this, he served as Ballet Master at Ballet Jazz de Montreal in Canada from 2009 to 2011, and at Aterballetto in Italy from 2006 to 2009. In addition to his positions with these renowned companies, he has been a guest ballet master with numerous prestigious organizations, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in the United States, Cirque du Soleil in Canada, Staatsoper Hannover in Germany, Noord Nederlandse Dans in the Netherlands, and Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Italy, among others.
As a dancer, Zamorano performed with a range of distinguished companies, including Aterballetto, Ballet Biarritz, Ballet Florida, Northern Ballet Theatre, Ballet Contemporaneo de Caracas, and Ballet de Cali. His performance career spanned various styles of dance, from classical ballet to contemporary works, and he has had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most celebrated choreographers.
In his choreographic work, Zamorano has collaborated closely with Mauro Bigonzetti, assisting him in the creation of pieces for MMCompany in Italy and Teatro San Martin in Argentina. He has also worked with artists such as Svetlana Zakharova, Marcelo Gomes, and Diana Vishneva on projects including the Contex Festival and tours with the Bolshoi Ballet. His ability to collaborate with top-tier dancers and choreographers has made him a sought-after figure in the international dance community.
Alongside his work in ballet, Zamorano is a certified yoga instructor, having received his certification in 2011. This additional expertise informs his teaching approach, promoting physical and mental balance among his students.
Zamorano’s training began at the Colombian Institute of Classical Ballet (INCOLBALLET), where he studied classical ballet, pas de deux, character dance, music, and folklore under the guidance of Ballet Nacional de Cuba. His early education laid the foundation for his successful and diverse career in dance.
