Biography

Roger Duart Sahuquillo is a talented Spanish dancer, renowned for his exceptional classical technique and versatile performances in both classical and contemporary ballet. He began his formal training at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Valencia, where he graduated with Honor Distinction in 2015, under the guidance of Pilar Martí and Rafael Darder. Roger furthered his education at the prestigious John Cranko Schule Staatliche Ballettakademie in Stuttgart from 2015 to 2017, studying with Dimitri Magitov and Nicola Biasutti.

During his time at the Stuttgarter Ballett as a student, he performed in productions such as Lady and the Fool by John Cranko, Pineapple Poll by John Cranko, Don Quijote by Maximiliano Guerra, Bolero by Maurice Bejart, and Romeo and Juliet by John Cranko. Since joining the Czech National Ballet in the 2017/2018 season under the direction of Filip Barankiewicz, he has quickly gained recognition for his dynamic range in both classical and contemporary works. Some of his notable soloist roles include Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet by John Cranko, the Blue Bird and Prince of the South in Sleeping Beauty by Marcia Haydée, Ion in The Second Detail by William Forsythe, Friedemann in EDEN | EDEN by Wayne McGregor, Arne in Fly Paper Bird by Marco Goecke, Greg in Handman by Edward Clug, and Quintet in BILL by Sharon Eyal.

Roger’s extensive classical repertoire includes prominent roles in Onegin by John Cranko, Swan Lake by John Cranko, La Fille Mal Gardée by Frederick Ashton, Coppélia by Ronald Hynd, La Sylphide by Johan Kobborg, La Bayadère by Javier Torres, The Nutcracker by Yuri Vámos, The Snow Queen by Michael Corder, and La Fille du Pharaon by Marius Petipa. His contemporary work also showcases his versatility, with performances in Petit Mort by Jiří Kylián, A Streetcar Named Desire by John Neumeier, Frank Bridge Variations by Hans Van Manen, Le Sacre du Printemps by Glen Tetley, Kafka: The Trial by Mauro Bigonzetti, Aspects by Katarzyna Kozielska, Prelude und Liebestod by Cayetano Soto, Artza by Eyal Dadon, and Nervous Walls by Rebecca Mabin.

Roger Duart continues to make his mark at the Czech National Ballet, where his technical skill, strong stage presence, and versatility in a wide range of choreographic styles ensure that he remains a key figure in the company.
