Sabine Blickenstorfer

Biography

Swiss designer Sabine Blickenstorfer is originally from Zurich and studied fashion design at the State University of Design in Basel from 1990-1993. In 1999 she was awarded the Federal Design Prize. Already during her studies she assisted costume designers at the Schiller Theater Berlin, Berliner Ensemble, Burgtheater Vienna and Oper Zürich, among others. Since 1997 she has been working as a freelance costume designer for drama and opera projects. She has worked with directors such as Corinna von Rad, Lorenzo Fioroni, Enrico Luebbe, Ludger Engels, Roland Schwab, Markus Bothe and Barbara David Brüesch. Her work in the field of costume design has taken her to many important venues in Germany and abroad, including the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Hungarian State Opera, L’Opéra de Strasbourg, the Royal Opera in Copenhagen and theatres in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Mannheim, Zurich, Basel and the Residenztheater in Munich.
