Biography
Sergio Verde studied Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country and photography and audiovisual design at the Sheffield Hallam University. He acquired his first professional experience in the fields of photography, video and graphic design. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he received a photography grant from the Guggenheim Foundation. Sergio Verde has been working regularly with the director Barbora Horáková Joly since 2018. He has created video installations for stage productions such as I hate music with music by Leonard Bernstein as well as Manuel de Falla’s El amor brujo at the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao and Der goldene Drache by Peter Eötvös and Roland Schimmelpfennig at the Dresden Semperoper. In July 2020, Tiempos de cabaret y cambalache was the first joint work with Calixto Bieito, and most recently he created the video design for the world premiere of Dark Spring by Hans Thomalla at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and Carmen at the Staatsoper Hannover, again in collaboration with Barbora Horáková Joly.
