Bass-baritone Thomas Jesatko makes his debut at the National Theatre Opera on 15 October 2024 as Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro. He studied singing in his hometown of Nuremberg and in Munich. After engagements in Darmstadt and Osnabrück, he joined the National Theatre in Mannheim in 1997. His repertoire includes almost all of Mozart's roles, a number of other major roles including Pizarro, Kaspar, Escamillo, Jochanaan, Orestes, Barak, and Falstaff, as well as almost all of Wagner's heroes including Wotan and Hans Sachs. Between 2007 and 2014 he performed the roles of Biterolf and Klingsor at the Bayreuth Festival and has appeared on numerous stages in Germany and abroad (Berlin, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Hannover, Basel, Zurich, Madrid, Copenhagen, Brussels, Charlotte NC, Santiago de Chile, etc.). Thomas Jesatko is also a keen interpreter of songs and oratorios. In 2016 he was awarded the title "Kammersänger" by the German state of Baden-Württemberg and in 2017 he received the Wagner Stella from the Richard Wagner Society in Mannheim.
