Biography
Slovak soprano Zuzana Ballánová makes her National Theatre Opera debut in 2020/21 season as Mizzi (Schreker: Der ferne Klang). She studied at the Bratislava Conservatoire and furthered her studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz, where in 2012 she performed the roles of La chauve-souris and Une pastourelle in Ravel's opera L'enfant et les sortilèges and in 2014 she sang Hannchen in Lortzing's Die Opernprobe. Together with the "Wiener Festival Operetta", she participated on a concert tour in Germany and Denmark in 2017. She has guest appeared at the North Bohemian Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Ústí nad Labem as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte, 2018) and Frasquita (Carmen, 2019). In the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary 2019, she received an honorable mention for her participation in the final round and the Prize of the Opera of the National Theatre in Prague and the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava.
