Zuzana Ježková
Biography
Zuzana Ježková is a graduate of stage design at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She has extended her studies with scenography internships in France (Opéra Bastille in Paris) and Great Britain (The Nottingham Trent University). She first collaborated with David Radok in the preparation of the first production of Václav Havel‘s play Leaving, for which she designed the costumes (Archa Theatre, 2008). She also created the set design for Radok‘s production of Shakespeare's As You Like It (Český Krumlov, 2011), the costumes for his productions of Shakespeare‘s Troilus and Cressida (National Theatre Prague, 2012) and Havel‘s Beggar‘s Opera (ABC Theatre, 2019), and for a number of Radok‘s opera productions such as Janáček‘s The Makropulos Case (GöteborgsOperan / National Theatre Brno, 2014), Bartók‘s Bluebeard's Castle and Schoenberg‘s Erwartung (GöteborgsOperan / National Theatre Brno, 2016), Vivaldi‘s Arsilda (a project of the Collegium 1704 and the opera houses L‘Opéra royal de Versailles, Théâtre de Caen, Opéra de Lille and the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, 2017), Three Fragments from Juliette by B. Martinů and Poulenc‘s La voix humaine (GöteborgsOperan / National Theatre Brno, 2019), Ivanović‘s Monument (National Theatre Brno, 2020), Britten‘s Peter Grimes (National Theatre Brno, 2021) and Strauss‘s Salome (National Theatre Brno, 2023). During her previous collaboration on opera projects, she has created scenic and costume designs for Britten‘s The Turn of the Screw directed by Jiří Nekvasil (State Opera Prague / Latvian National Opera, 2000 and 2003), and costume designs for Tchaikovsky‘s Eugene Onegin directed by Jakub Korčák (Den Norske Opera & Ballett Oslo / GöteborgsOperan, 2008 and 2011). In addition to her theatre work, she is also involved in artistic collaboration on film projects. Among other things, she is the author of costumes for the film Leaving directed by Václav Havel, and for the television productions of Bohuslav Martinů‘s operas The Voice of the Forest, Wonderful Flight and Tears of the Knife (Czech Television).
