Unique joint project of Laterna magika and Czech National Ballet
Fragments of stories, the inner worlds of the people we have passed by in the street or in a dream. Fear, seeking and finding. The passage of time. The joy of a well-cooked pancake. An orange and its secret beneath the zest. A plastic cup thrown away. Solitude at the table. A touch. Absence of contact. French – the language of chefs. A chocolate fountain. Frozen and defrosted feelings in the middle of an icebox for food or, rather, life ... All that is rendered by the dancers through movement, as well as, now and then, word and song. The audience can assemble from a host of such shreds their own story and their own universe, which you will invoke or end with the words “Bon Appétit”!

About
The choreographer Jan Kodet and the stage directors Martin Kukučka and Lukáš Trpišovský, forming the SKUTR tandem, have brought to bear their fascination with food and present to the audience a dance-theatre production, in which they lay bare the subject at a variety of levels, seriously or with humour and hyperbole. They whet the appetite, tickle the senses, yet they also raise questions. The ebullient Laterna magika and the Czech National Ballet dancers, clad in Simona Rybáková’s costumes, enliven Jakub Kopecký’s austere, stark scenography. The production is adorned with Ivan Acher’s contemporary music, with each scene unfurling in a different style, occasionally interspersed with singing.
Laterna magika has always been a company given to making creative use of space and experimentation. Bon Appétit! affords scope to a new experiment, in which Laterna magika join forces with the Czech National Ballet. Come and savour the splendid dance performances of the members of the two companies.
Bon Appétit!
The production has been created in collaboration between Laterna magika and the Czech National Ballet.
