Internationally renowned actor and Shakespeare scholar Lisa Wolpe has arguably played more of the Bard’s male roles than any woman in history. From gender explorations to intergenerational trauma to the unforgettable story of her life, Lisa triumphantly illustrates that Shakespeare’s insight into the human condition is as relevant as ever. The story is dedicated to her father, Hans Max Joachim Wolpe, a Jewish hero who fought the Nazis in WWII after his family was murdered at Auschwitz.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is re-imagined from Juliet's point of view with an all Arab company of actors and a new and exciting bi-lingual English & Arabic language script. Romeo and Juliet: What's in a Name explores the dynamics of Juliet's relationship to her mother and father, Romeo, Tybalt and the Nurse with the signature of three different Juliets sharing the role. An innovative, fresh take on Shakespeare's most famous young lovers. Directed by Prague Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Guy Roberts and starring an all Arab company of actors - Fawzia M. Istrabadi, Hind Jadallah-Karraa, Stevie Bullard, Doreen Bechtol and Fady Demian with an English and Arabic language script translated by Adham Sayed.

    Where to buy tickets

    The National Theatre sells tickets up to 6 months in advance. We are currently selling tickets for performances of Drama, Ballet, Opera and Laterna magika taking place in September 2024 – únor 2025.


    When purchasing online, you can get an e-ticket. You can pick up printed tickets in person at the box offices of the National Theatre.

    What to wear?

    By their appearance, attire and behaviour, the audience is obliged to adhere to the accustomed practice expected from them when attending a theatre performance.

    Parking at the Estates Theatre

    Unfortunately, there is no parking near The Estates Theater. You can use the guarded parking lot in the Kotva shopping center (Revoluční 1/655, Prague 1) and Paladium (Na Poříčí 1079 / 3a, Prague 1).
