This autumn with Jiří Kylián

This autumn, the Czech National Ballet will present extraordinary dance events, celebrating Jiří Kylián’s mastery. On 13 November, the production Kylián – Bridges of Time will for the first time include the choreography Gods and Dogs, which will receive its Czech premiere. What is more, the first three November performances of Kylián – Bridges of Time will feature a very special guest, the Korean National Ballet, who will make their Prague debut.

Plácido Domingo´s World Opera competition Operalia winners announced

Opera

Soprano Adriana Gonzalez from Guatemala and tenor Xabier Anduaga from Spain are the First Prize Winners of Operalia’s 27th edition. Singers from Russia, South Koera, Sweden and USA/Germany were also awarded Maria Kataeva and Gihoon Kim were voted as favourites by the audience

KAFKA: The Trial - new premiere of the Ballet!

The third premiere of the Czech National Ballet is a modern production created by a renowned Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti. He draw inspiration from the famous novel The Trial (Proces) that Franz Kafka wrote in 1914. Fascinated by the irresistible language of the novel, its traumatizing plot and still valid message as well as by the visual appeal of the Orson Welles film, Bigonzetti entered the dark world of Josef K.

General Director’s Statement to Open Letter of Opera Employees

We will prepare an answer which will include facts that are widely known and accessible from public sources. John Cranko’s choreography, to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, is a breath-taking spectacle, encompassing splendid melodies and dance, sheer classical elegance, virtuoso solo and corps performances, exquisite sets and costumes, a show replete with profound emotions. The Czech National Ballet is the very first large company to have been granted the approval to stage the piece beyond the Stuttgarter Ballett.
